Giulietta
Trophy
A
new exciting track event open to all versions of the legendary Giulietta, in the
spotlight of international racing for over 50 years.
Giulietta:
the history
Milan,
April 1954: a date forever engraved in the mind of the numerous Alfa Romeo lovers.
Over fifty years ago the Giulietta, one of the most successful Alfas of all times,
made its appearance. The Giulietta began to set records right from the start: interestingly,
the coupe version (the Giulietta Sprint) was released first, followed by the Berlina,
the sedan version. Its presentation captured the attention of both the media and
the public equally impressed by its strong personality, class, elegance and, in the
best Alfa Romeo tradition, sporty soul. The Giulietta quickly became one of the most
coveted cars, successful with all the different bodies created by the best designers
in car history: Pinin Farina, Zagato and Bertone. Technically, it had state of the
art mechanics combined with spider and coupe bodies (the famous Sprint, SS and SZ).
All versions delivered oustanding performance, usually found in higher-class cars
with larger displacement engines, that opened the doors of competitions for many
racing enthusiasts. On numerous occasions these great cars led their drivers to victory,
contributing to the making of true champions (Ignazio Giunti, Carlo Facetti, Enrico
Pinto, Jocken Rindt, Joakim Bonnier, Emerson and Wilson Fittipaldi). The Giuliettas
raced everywhere: in Italy, they ran the Mille Miglia, various Targa Florio editions
in Sicily, and on all major motor-racing circuits achieving unrivalled success. They
also competed in France, in the Tour de France and Le Mans, and all over Europe,
in Africa, in the United States, in South America, and Australia!
Giulietta:
a comeback to racing
Lately
Giuliettas, especially the sports versions, are much in demand and have often received
top evaluations at prestigious international auctions. Today, over fifty years after
its racing debut (on 6 March 1955), the legendary Giulietta, more fascinating than
ever, makes its comeback to competitions raced by gentlemen drivers, respected businessmen,
famous professionals, sports and entertainment personalities in an exclusive Speed
Championship dedicated to this historic model. The Giulietta Trophy, 7 races on renowned
national and international tracks, is organized by Peroni Promotion Incentive in
collaboration with Registro Italiano Alfa Romeo with the official endorsement of
Alfa Romeo. To some the decision to bring these jewel cars in all their versions
back on the track may appear strange, unusual, excessive even, but in every Alfa
beats the heart of a racer and being confined to a static museum or a dusty garage
would be a much worse offence. There's no retirement for perfection and uniqueness,
new challenges lay ahead for these extraordinary cars to spark emotions and inspire
passion. 30 Giuliettas, comparable for quality and performance, will compete in exciting
and hard-fought races that will thrill spectators. New rivalries will arise among
the most skilled drivers and the best pros in Alfa racing car preparation and configuration.
This prestigious racing Trophy, characterized by a flawless organization and an elegant
and exclusive setting, will be a success. Thanks to the support of Alfa Romeo, the
presentation and final prize-giving ceremony will take place in the Museo Storico
Alfa Romeo in Arese, or just a few kilometres away from Modena, a city with a long
racing tradition, in the ancient castle of Panzano, once the residence of Ludovico
d'Este and today home to the notable Righini collection.
Cars
The
Giulietta Trophy is open to five Giulietta versions divided in different classes:

The
seven races that will award the Giulietta Trophy take place on famous motor-racing
tracks, sometimes during other prestigious car events, as scheduled in the CSAI-approved
